Prevention Priorities

• Gain funding from the next round of the Global Fund activity to step up prevention and strengthen health systems for delivery
• Address the human resources crisis in the health sector that impacts on prevention efforts
• Ensure prevention strategies are guided by information on key drivers of the epidemic, targeting interventions to where new infections are happening
• Following analysis of key drivers of the epidemic, set up targeted programmes for groups at high risk, including commercial sex workers and migrants
• Introduce policy and guidelines for rolling out male circumcision (only 10.5% men were circumcised according to 2006 DHS)
• Develop a “prevention movement” building technical capacity to sustain prevention efforts, and to create greater demand and uptake of prevention services
